Domains First Strategy

The goal of the domains-first strategy was to invite users to join Squarespace through a low risk product, then give them the confidence to build their brand on the platform by starting a website. The domains-first strategy also promoted the domains search to the top of the frontsite, and in several microsites.

Mobile Banner

Since Squarespace Version 7 does not allow users to edit their website on a mobile device, it only makes sense to promote the product that is easily purchased on a mobile device — domains. The strategy for the domains-first mobile banner was to elevate the domains search input to be the first noticeable touchpoint on the frontsite homepage. The secondary action would be to create a website.

Domains Microsite

In the domains-first strategy, there were two domains search touch points — The first being the domains search bar on the frontsite navigation, which would take users to the search results page (seen below). The second touch point is the domains landing page, which is a more robust details page that lets users know all about Squarespace domains, in addition to marketing campaign imagery and customer support.
